A Brief History of PayPal
Author: admin
Most of us know what PayPal is and use it rather frequently whether it’s during lengthy sessions on our mobilebroadband4g internet looking for the latest deals or to try and find ways of making money or facilitate transactions. We rely on PayPal and its unique method of facilitating online transactions without government interference or controls, but few understand the troublesome history surrounding this online giant or how it almost never came to be.
Like most things in the late 90s, PayPal was just getting started and many thought it wouldn’t last. Eventually a deal was struck with eBay and PayPal’s users shot up to the millions, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Many scam artists and organized crime groups sought to exploit PayPal’s transaction features and many people were cheated out of thousands. Some states even banned PayPal, but despite the obstacles, PayPal’s shares continued to climb. Eventually they were the default online payment service and, in 2002, eBay bought PayPal for 1.4 billion in stock.
Nowadays, PayPal continues to be the leader in online transaction services and has even expanded its services to include debit cards for accounts. PayPal is available in over 100 markets for transaction in 25 international currencies. That’s quite the meteoric climb to success.
